Statistical analysis of the influence of body height of ATP players on the success of their game
Nechanický, Michal ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Statistical analysis of the influence of body height of ATP players on the success of their game Objectives: The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to determine whether a player's body height affects his position in the ATP rankings and whether it affects the effectiveness of his serve. At the same time, I will investigate the possible influence of surfaces on player's serve statistics and his position in the ATP rankings. Methods: The mentioned monitoring was determined on a sample of TOP 200 players of the ATP ranking. Mathematical-statistical analysis of the data was carried out by collecting the data reported on the official ATP website. The results of my investigation were compared with similar characteristics of selected professional literature. Results: Mathematical-statistical analysis showed a loose correlation between a player's body height and his position in the ATP rankings. Furthermore, a stronger correlation was shown between serve statistics and ranking and between serve statistics and player height. This correlation changes with the type of surface, where the most closeness to the player's position in the ATP ranking or his body height is shown by the serve statistics of the player serving on a hard surface. Keywords: Tennis, body height, serve, surfaces, ATP
Philippine measurement as a one of the criterions of maturity for the school attendance (?)
FÜRBACHOVÁ, Gabriela
This thesis presents the Philippine measurement as one of the criteria for school maturity and its dependence on individua) Basic physical dimensions. The Basic physical dimensions of four to eight-year-old children (natural height, height in sitting position, body weight, span of arms) were monitored for the purpose of this thesis. Then, the length of the lower segment of the body was calculated by taking the height in sitting position off the natural height. Some of the measured data were used to calculate indices: the height in sitting position to the natural height, the span of arms to the natural height and the length of the lower segment to the natural height. The data were statistically interpreted and the results put finto tables and graphs accompanied by texts. The data of the Basic physical dimensions and the age in relation to the Philippine measurement are an important part. On the basis of our results and measurements, the age of six is appeared to be a minimum requirement to start school. A more optima) solution would include postponing the age limit by about three to six months back.
Growth of the foot in children aged 6 - 15 years. (Probe to the 6th nationwide anthropological survey of children and adolescents in the Czech Republic 2001.)
PAVLEČKOVÁ, Jana
The thesis is focussed on the issue of the growth and development of children aged 6-15 years in the Czech Republic. Data on children?s growth and development is determined within the framework of nationwide anthropological surveys of children and adolescents. In this case, it is a supplementary probe to the 6th National Anthropological Survey of 2001, which determines 4 bodily dimensions among children: body height, body weight, foot length and foot width. All of the obtained information and data was entered into a questionnaire specially prepared for the 6th NAS. The measured data was then saved, sorted, controlled and statistically processed. Furthermore, the basic bodily dimensions were used to calculated the following indexes: BMI, index of foot length to body height, index of foot width to body height and foot length-to-width index. The results of statistical processing of the measured data were then entered into table and graphs, and compared with literary information.
Speed training in strength and conditioning preparation of youth basketball players
Janikov, Martin ; Kaplan, Aleš (advisor) ; Hojka, Vladimír (referee)
Title: Speed training in strength and conditioning preparation of youth basketball players Aims: The main purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the effectivity of the training program designed to focus on development of speed abilities in category under fourteen years basketball players. Secondary aims are determination of relationship between practice attendances, number of games played, changes of body height, body weight and body composition of the players on their acceleration, maximal speed and agility tests performance. Methods: For this thesis was used experimental method, which concentrated on observation of speed development in two groups of players, each with different conditions defined by training content. We used measuring, testing and interviewing for data gathering purposes. To assess the relationship between all parameters and their explanation we apply analytic and comparative methods. For evaluation of relationships was used Pearson's correlation and p-value for determination of statistical significance. Results: The main hypothesis, presuming relationship between anticipation in our training program and improvement of speed abilities, wasn't confirmed by our calculations. The results were calculated for following tests: 20 m sprint (r = -0.12, p = 0.69, n = 14), flying 15 m run...
Differences in growth parameters in SGA / IUGR children and patiens with growth hormone deficiency treated with recombinant growth hormone
Kročilová, Kateřina ; Sedlak, Petr (advisor) ; Lisá, Lidka (referee)
In the Czech Republic is born to 5 % of SGA / IUGR children, about 5, 000 children a year, and their incidence is increasing. In 10 - 15 % does not occur postnatal compensation growth acceleration and growth retardation is then further deepens. Since 2003, these children can be treated by recombinant growth hormone in supraphysiological doses. Master thesis brings informations about SGA / IUGR children and their growth parameters during the first 2 years from the beginning of treatment when the monitoring was carried out at three - month intervals. The results are compared with the group of patients treated with growth hormone for growth hormone deficiency. Growth data was processed by a group of 57 SGA / IUGR children, which was compared with data of 34 children with growth hormone deficiency treated between 2003-2015 with growth hormone. Treatment of both groups of patients was carried out by a suitable therapeutic protocol, with the dose of GH by the respective diagnosis. These parameters were monitored: body height and weight, growth rate, BMI and weight - height ratio of patients. SGA / IUGR and GHD patients showed different growth profile in the initial phase of treatment when GHD patients had higher acceleration peak after 3 months of starting treatment and steeper increase in growth rate....
Relations between high, jumping and speed-dexterity parameters in older students' volleyball
Valtová, Alžběta ; Vorálek, Rostislav (advisor) ; Buchtel, Jaroslav (referee)
Title: Relations between high, jumping and speed-dexterity parameters in older students' volleyball Objectives: The aim of this work is to identify and evaluate the relationships between high, jumping and speed-dexterity parameters in older students' volleyball in the years 2008 to 2012. Methods: For the processing and evaluation of data retrieved from the results of standardized tests for volleyball in individual years and generally used method of comparison (comparison) data were also used basic statistical methods (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, range of variation, T-sections, McCall criterion). The evaluation was performed by means of graphs and verbal assessment. Results: In the selection of the 20 highest players in each year from 2008 to 2012 could not be confirmed that the majority did not reach above the average of the absolute values after smash jump start, but it was confirmed that the majority did not reach above-average values when measuring speed-dexterity test, known as K-test measured against a whole group of players in a given year. Furthermore, according to the processed data confirmed that most of the selection of 20 of the K-test the best players in each year from 2008 to 2012 will achieve above-average values of the absolute jump start after smash...
The relation between morphological and personality traits in humans
Sýkorová, Kateřina ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Třebický, Vít (referee)
In humans, as in animals, associations or correlations between morphological and personality traits can be observed. Some of the most conspicuous and well describable morphological traits in humans are eye color, hair color, body height and body mass index (BMI). These traits can correlate not only with temperament or character, but also, for example, with intelligence. Relations between morphology and personality can have an origin on a genetic or an environmental level. The human psyche, which can be influenced by social factors, can also have a role in the chain of causes and consequences. In this study, known relations between morphological traits and personality are discussed and mechanisms which could be responsible for these relations are mentioned. This study also focuses on the possible role of the environment which could explain some associations between the traits. Further, there is an attempt to identify environmental factors contributing to the morphological and personality traits which could therefore be a cause of some correlation between these traits.
Effects of body height on movement competences of pupils
Sláčíková, Barbora ; Vojtíková, Lenka (advisor) ; Kainová, Lucie (referee)
This thesis focuses on the evaluation of how body height, BMI, gender, and leisure-time physical activities affect movement competence of pupils. The theoretical part analyses the younger school age and its characteristics in physical, psychical, movement, and motoric development. We further also analyze how movement activities affect child's organisms. The critical chapter of the theoretical part is a chapter about growth and development. Additionally, we add information about anthropometric and somatic changes in the younger school age. At the end of the theoretical part, we provide an overview of methods that can be used to measure movement competence. We mainly elaborate on MOBAK 3 method, which we chose to use in our research. The research part describes the selected research and statistic methods, research sample, and results. The data showed that there is no significant relationship between body height and movement competence. However, we found significant relationships with the other variables - BMI, gender, and leisure-time physical aktivity. KEYWORDS younger school age, body height, movement competence, motoric testing, Mobak
